Top-Class Luxury Box-Stalls

In Qatar, horses are much loved. Both in national and in international horse-racing, Arab horses are highly valued.

After MERO-TSK's construction of a prototype for the stables of H. H. Sheikh Mohammed, now 62 further extremely luxurious box stalls are following. The stylishly ornated accommodation facilities for horses, designed from highest-quality materials, are being set up in an area of "Education City", a quarter for research and education, in Doha.

The design of Leigh & Orange (L&O) Architects was implemented with extremely high-quality materials like stainless steel and marble.

Islamic patterns to architectural drawings are incorporated as cast ornaments into the door elements right and left.

All steel component parts of the extremely spacious box stalls are manufactured from stainless steel and are refined with a hairline finish. Both the big door element and the latticed elements above the partition walls are manufactured from closely spaced bars.

Due to its proximity to the Persian Gulf, the climate is sticky all year round, subtropical and hot. The atmospheric humidity is about 85 %. In summer, temperatures of 45 °C in the shadow are not uncommon. For this reason, the building complex is completely air-conditioned, and there is no lack of any other luxury.

The back-walls of the horse stalls are lined with marble from a height of 1.20 m, thus additionally intensifying the cooling effect. In total, approx. 670 sqm of marble are installed as back-walls.

In the boxes, the exclusive drinking and feeding systems are manufactured from stainless steel. Among others, the Nelson drinker provides an automatic fresh-water supply. Additional elements, like logos with the horses' names, are set into the frontal surface.

A special highlight is the LED lighting system in the RGB color space, with colors changing by request. Thus, the different colors illuminating the front segments shall reflect varying moods. The standard illumination shines in white.

By the end of the year, all components manufactured by MERO-TSK will be supplied. The completion is scheduled for 2016.
