A glazed atrium roof constructed by MERO-TSK crowns the shopping mall situated centrally in a building complex in the heart of the new business centre of Moscow (Moscow City).
The complete glazed surface of approx. 10,000 m² is heatable which keeps the atrium free from snow and ice at all times. Early in 2009 the electrical installations were put in place. 2 main switch cupboards and 35 supplementary distribution boxes are necessary in order to heat all of the 2,460 insulated glass panels.
However, to heat all those glass panels simultaneously would take an electrical power of approx. 20 MW. Since such enormous amounts of energy are not available, the atrium was subdivided in sectors which can be regulated individually by cameras and temperature control devices.
